Without the scenic beauty of a seashore or a mountain range, north Texas has had to
create its own natural attractions. Although all the area lakes are man-made, the
offer the special advantages of convenience and are carefully developed to maximize
safety, convenience and fun. Nowhere else will you find lakes more suited to
recreation than those around the Metroplex.
Lake Lavon
This 21,000 acre lake has 120 miles of shoreline with ample parks and campsites.
Fishing includes catfish, blue gill, perch, crappie, bass, white bass and more.
Swimming can be found at Collin Park, Mallard Park and Pebble Beach. Other amenities
offered at the various parks include: campsites with electric/water hookups; tent sites;
picnic areas; boat ramps/fishing; handicap picnic and fishing areas; and jet ski

Lake Lewisville
This 720 acre state park offers the following amenities: campgrounds; screened shelters;

Lake Ray Hubbard
Known as the largest recreational facility in North Texas, Lake Ray Hubbard was originally
created as a water supply reservoir, along with other area lakes. The water surface
and shore are owned by the city of Dallas, and it is city policy that such property is
open to the public. There is year-round fishing and sailing, and warm summers create
a great temptation for water skiing and picnics. For more information, please contact:

Lake Ray Roberts
This state park with 11 miles of shoreline, features fishing which includes channel
catfish, white bass, large mouth black bass, crappie and pan fish. The park also has
the following amenities: 4.5 miles of hike/bike trails; 12 miles of multi-use trails; 192
picnic sites/day areas; 184 overnight campsites; and swimming areas. For more

Lake Texoma
Approximately 48 miles north of McKinney, this huge reservoir spreads over 89,900 acres of
Texas and Oklahoma, an impoundment of the Red River. A massive shoreline of 580
miles includes innumerable scenic coves and inlets. Superb marinas and luxury
resorts, 57 campgrounds, trailer parks, 110 picnic areas, swimming areas, 100 shelter
areas and 80 plus boat ramps combine to attract 9 million visitors a year. For more
