Community colleges provide a necessary link between high school and senior colleges for
many Texas students. Their mission is to provide quality transferable education for
students seeking four-year degrees; in-depth training through one and two-year applied
programs in specific technical fields and to assist people with job training. Collin
County Community College (CCCC) provides students an opportunity to earn college credits
affordably or to continue with adult education. A rapidly changing business climate
means that skills must be as up-to-date as possible. Collin County Community College
District (CCCCD) meets those needs with quality, non-credit continuing education for a
wide variety of interests in occupations.
Since its first classes in area high schools in 1985, CCCCD has grown to four campus
locations and a business development center and is now one of the 10 largest community
college districts in Texas. With more than 10,000 credit students each semester,
CCCCD is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools to award associate degrees and certificates in more than 60 areas of study.
The college boasts a number of internationally renowned programs like collegiate
theatre, applied graphic design technology, engineering technology, semiconductor
manufacturing, telecommunications, computer network technology, nursing, fire science and
law enforcement; not to mention one of the most successful articulation transfer
agreements with colleges and universities throughout the state. It's even a great
place for sports, with seven varsity intercollegiate athletic programs and a full lineup
of intramural sports activities.
CCCCD operates two locations in Plano - Spring Creek Campus (SCC) and the Courtyard
Center for Professional and Economic Development (CYC). Opening in 1988, the Spring
Creek Campus is the district's largest campus with more than 400,000 square feet of space,
and is home to theatre, music and other fine arts programs. Express Hall gymnasium,
Express tennis complex and Sewell Field house, CCCC athletic teams are also on site at
SCC. CYC is the hub for all Continuing Education courses, customized contract
training classes, as well as community development programs like the Collin County Small
Business Development Center and the Plano Economic Development Board. Many of
CCCCD's facilities are open for use to the public. All county residents are
encouraged to take advantage of state-of-the-art fitness centers, a swimming pool and
learning resource centers.
